The Institute of Microbiology invites applications for the position of a Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) in ERC-funded project “SecMessFunctions” (Salary Scale 13 TV-L “FwN”, 100 %) starting as soon as possible. The position is limited to 3 years.
Responsibilities and duties
The successful candidate will work in the framework of the ERC-funded project “SecMessFunctions: Revealing second messenger functions in bacterial stress response, cell differentiation and natural product biosynthesis”. In this project, we will explore second messengers and regulatory pathways controlling cell differentiation in Streptomyces bacteria. We will employ biochemical approaches to identify new effectors and enzymes in second messenger networks. Fluorescence microscopy-based techniques, molecular biology and bacterial genetics methods will be used to investigate the underlying mechanism controlling development and bacterial stress responses.
Employment conditions
To qualify for the position, applicants must hold a university science degree in microbiology, molecular biology or biochemistry. A relevant PhD/doctoral degree is expected. Experience in microbiology, bacterial genetics and microscopy will be considered as advantage. Candidates should have published in peer-review journals, be scientifically highly motivated, team-oriented and have excellent English communication skills (written and spoken).
