Job Description
Neuropsychoimaging of Addiction and Related Conditions (NARC) in the Department of Psychiatry is a new, vibrant, multi-disciplinary research group at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. NARC is focused on gene-brain-behavior studies in individuals with cocaine and alcohol addiction and individuals with intermittent explosive disorder. We actively collaborate with members of the research community at Mt. Sinai, including the Friedman Brain Institute, the Departments of Psychiatry, Neuroscience, Genetics and Genomic Sciences, Institute for Genomics and Multiscale Biology, and others, as well as with various institutions and consortia throughout the U.S. and the world.
The candidate will be expected to interact within this dynamic group and with the PIs with the task to conduct neuroimaging studies on the effects of drug addiction and related disorders of self-control. The candidate will be responsible for high-level data analyses integrating data across multiple imaging modalities; she/he will be trained in conceptualizing questions related to the brain circuits of problem behaviors. We seek a highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience, computer science, engineering or a related field. The successful applicant will have strong communication skills and proven ability to write for publication.
Duties and Responsibilities: The candidate will help develop and oversee application of sophisticated data analyses of multidimensional imaging data. The candidate will also be involved in all other aspects of research conducted in the lab and is expected to write for conferences and journal publications. Education: PhD in psychology, neuroscience, computer science, engineering or related field
Experience: Graduate school experience in neuroimaging.
Computer and General Skills: High-level expertise in neuroimaging analyses is expected. Knowledge of SPSS is a plus. Takes initiative. Strong communications skills and research productivity as well as ability to work effectively in a research team.
