Job Description
A postdoctoral position is available starting September 2019 in Dr. Cruz-Reyes laboratory at Texas A&M University, Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics.
This project will combine approaches in molecular genetics and biochemistry, and involves components in proteomics, bioinformatics, and structural biology. One research line is on the mechanism of the RNA editing process in trypanosome parasites. This process in trypanosomes has interesting analogies with RNAi, CRISPR/Cas9, mRNA splicing and other systems directed by small non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs). A second research line involves projects in drug development against essential genes in trypanosomes including N-ribosyl transferases, cruzain, and TbCat B. The applicant will participate in both research lines in our collaborative studies with other labs in the USA.
Skills require direct experience in RNA biology or molecular genetics, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in biochemistry or molecular biology. Salary is commensurate with experience. The position is ideal and preferred for recent Ph.D. graduates.
