NIH-funded Postdoctoral positions are available immediately in Dr. Hao Jiang’s laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine. The lab currently studies molecular mechanisms of chromatin and gene regulation in stem cells and cancer, with a particular interest in nuclear biomolecular condensates (often driven by liquid-liquid phase separation) in these processes, as seen in our recent publications Nature 2021, PMID: 34526716, Nature Cell Biology 2020, PMID: 32719551, and the complete publication list: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/myncbi/hao.jiang.2/bibliography/public/. New projects in the lab will explore novel mechanisms linking dysregulation of nuclear condensation with human diseases, and have tremendous potential for discoveries in this very young but important research area. As our studies use a wide spectrum of experimental approaches, including protein biochemistry, biophysics, microscopy, molecular biology, genomics, cell biology, stem cells, cancer in cellular and animal models, qualified candidates with PhD degree (or expected soon) should have strong background in one or more of these areas. A strong motivation and an excellent track record of first-author publication are important.
